Van and Joan McKinnies of Mt Vernon Indiana dedicated a CJTRYE memorial
scholarship in memory of their good friends, Richard Lankford and Don Malone.
Richard Lankford was a life long member of the Appaloosa Horse Club. His family
tradition is still carried on through his son, Jeff Lankford, who shows Appaloosa
game horses. Even thought Richard was a game horse enthusiast, he and his
brothers enjoying the experience of riding on the Chief Joe Trail Ride one year.
Don Malone was a friend to the Appaloosa Horse community. He is most noted for
running the lighting system for the game classes at the National and World shows.
Don encouraged youth to enjoy their horses and take part in horse activities.
